New things! Finally getting my studio perfect.

This week I got a Victrola 7in one stereo unit for the studio. It plays cd, cassette, vinyl records (33, 45, even 78!), has fm radio that works great and Bluetooth for phone computer and iPad. The ceramic needle is not good and I’m told wears out clean records so I’m trying to only play older vinyl on it. I looked into diamond tip styluses but not sure if the ones I found were legit. Anybody know or have this unit? Seems to really sound pretty darn good from the built in speakers but you can add external speakers with the outlets in back. I’m good for now and very happy to get this unit. It was pretty affordable too. I’m told it’s better than a Crosley. It looks nice next to my home made record cabinet I built years ago with my father in law.

Next up I was told by my doctor to get compression socks to treat my ongoing gout battle (which is much better) so I got this three for 15 black pair and got them in plus size due to my claves being swollen. They were more like tights and really tough to get on and very tight at the ankles. So I got this other pair which were listed as for men and women in the widest one they had. They had three choices; black, rainbow hearts, or these that were called yellow stripe. I went with that. They had a better fit and we’re a bit more durable from better materials. One pair was as much as three of the other kind. I even got an extra pair later. Seem to help quite a bit. I start my exercise stretching class this week too. I’m getting mobility back and my mind seems much clearer this month. I’m getting used to the medication for my condition and I’m trying my best to remember to drink my water during the day.

Also in the mail this week was my new Scoocher stickers I ordered for all new orders from popkustomshoppestore.com
They are on die cut reflective vinyl and look amazing in the light. Perfect for your computer, journal or skatedeck. I am getting lots of books to add to the site to sell there from Punk Hostage Press whom I have been doing a lot of illustrations for. Working on some this week even.

I’m expecting my new southwest style rug this week and hopefully my dog will like it and take naps in my studio while I work in there. It’s his space too. He does not really like dog beds. Most times he likes to lay on the rug or couch.

I need a big chair still and my custom cabinets may get done very soon. Still alphabetically organizing all my records and cd’s. DVD’s are done. Toys will go on the new shelves and one shelf will be for new paintings to lean on.

Did all my reference research for my next Uncle Bill painting assignment I will start in the morning. This one has Martha Raye, Imogene Coco, and Richard Decon in a bakery shop. Should be a fun one. I’m glad my uncle has enough wall space and so many ideas for these commissions. You too can have Scoocher paint something for you or a loved one. Email “Scoocher” here: popkustomshoppe@gmail.com

Hope to hear from you and hope you all are doing well. Happy Trails and God Bless You All, Scoocher

Day after Record Store Day 2022

So yesterday was record store day and I’m not even sure we have a record store that participates in our town. So I did know The Mats had a live double album that I wanted and I got word that plaid room had them online and I picked one up this morning. Then I checked deeper on what was available and then saw my favorite Wipers album Over the edge was available as a foil cover double anniversary rsd limited edition on colored wax. Found one online at a fair price and jumped on it today too because I hesitated on the Is this Real? Foil anniversary and that goes for about 80 bucks now online and that’s just to much for me but I keep waiting for a deal on that. I did get the other Wipers foil double last record store day and I really like this band. I think I have an OG of over the edge from back in the day but I’m sure this has extras of some kind. I guess that will be a surprise when I get it.

In case you read my last post and wondered where I got my record cube storage shelves I found that Wally mart had a cheaper better homes and garden version of ikea’s popular callax units which were about twice or more than I paid. Thanks to JC The Flip Side #vinylcommunity on the YouTubes for that info.

Was not expecting to spend this RSD but I’m happy with what I got and now I can expect some treats in the mail soon.
I have been watching everyone’s videos today. Lots of Jazz which I really need to learn more about. Seems like those titles are the most wanted. Probably due to more people willing to pay up for fresh jazz flips. Did not hear anyone claim getting a Taylor Swift which was the big ticket item for 2022. Many places had special lotteries for a chance at one.

Hope you all had a successful fun day!

Happy Record Store Day 2022

Here’s what I did this record store day… #vinylcommunity on YouTube if you want to find out about record store day and other record collectors. So after a few months of putting this off we finally built this second record cube storage shelf unit today. The first one I did mostly on my own while I had some health issues and it was a struggle and I had to ask my wife for help at the end part of assembly. With her help we managed to get the first one done. She kept asking me for months…”is today the record cube assembly day?” Yesterday was once again supposed to be it and I put it off again. Well today being record store day what better way to celebrate than to get this done and get my collection put in order (that’s the next part).

The only thing that looked really essential to get for me was that Golden Smog ep with the Chris Mars art on the cover. I have the cd so I don’t need it but might try to track down a copy later online. So I got going after some coffee and made sure to take many brakes as last time it was too much. I got too stressed out. This time was much easier as I remember what to do from the last one. I took my time and set everything up in the living room with much more space to put it together. My wife and I kind of looked at each other on the last part when I needed her help as if to say “here we go!”. I went together super smooth! We were listening to a streamed copy of Nick Lowe’s greatest hits I ordered the other day on cd which should be on the way here soon. I had remembered how much I liked listening to him with my uncle and some of the guys back in the print shop days used to play him while we worked all day printing. My wife liked my choice. Kind of music from our era. Elvis Costello really borrowed from him from more than a few songs on this one.

So after two hours…it was done! Together we put it in the studio in it's spot. Looks good! After the Nick Lowe stream ended it randomly went into 100,000 years by Kiss from Off The Soundboard 2004 in Virginia Beach. It was so funny! I did feel like it took 100,000 years to get done! Ha!
It was good to hear that. I have the green vinyl of that coming soon. I’m really enjoying that show. Lots of fans don’t care for it because it’s not the original line up, but I think it’s going  to be remembered later on as a classic show of it's time. I guess I’m collecting those off the soundboard records… I’m enjoying it.

So now I can finally get the clutter on the floor in my studio put away and have room for our dog to enjoy the space with me. We need a rug next for him in there to curl up on. Still need custom shelves to display my toy collection, but this is today’s victory. Felt good to stretch a bit and accomplish this. What a great team I have. I was going to make YouTube videos about my records but it’s all out of order and so jumbled I don’t even know what’s in it. So after that, maybe some videos? Fist things first. One thing at a time like my dad always said. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Hope you all are having as beautiful a day as we are here! Happy Trails and God Bless You All -Scoocher
